My boiler is not that old, do I still need to get it serviced?

This is one of the most frequent questions our engineers get asked, and the straight answer is YES. All boilers should have a check on an annual basis, this improves the life of the boiler, keeps you and your family safe and keeps the validity of your warranty. 

The benefits of an annual boiler service

There are many benefits of an annual service, at clean heating we ensure that we carryout thorough checks on all boilers to detect any early faults, our certified engineers will be able to identify any underlying problems, before it could become a serious and costly problem, and must only be carried out by a gas safe registered engineer. Servicing a boiler takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete and includes some of the following: 

• Checking to see if there is correct ventilation
• Making sure the appliance is safely and correctly positioned
• Completing a flue combustion test
• Make sure that all safety devices are working correctly
• Check the appliances to make sure there are no visual corrosions or leaks

Yearly boiler servicing can help reduce your heating bills to help you save money, prevent potential boiler breakdowns, and replacements. One of the main benefits to a boiler service, is to prevent potential technical failures that could provide life threatening, such as carbon monoxide poisoning.  

What is carbon monoxide:

Carbon monoxide is an extremely poisonous gas, it is colorless and odorless and is caused by the incomplete burning of natural gas and LPG and can very quickly cause brain damage and even death. Your gas appliance may leak carbon monoxide if has not been fitted correctly, if it has been poorly maintained, or badly repaired.

The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are described as ‘Flue like’ which can include the following:

• Nausea & Vomiting
• Headaches
• Breathlessness
• Dizziness & Confusion
• Chest pain
• Upset stomach
• Unconsciousness

After every service, we will provide you with a certificate on completion, and a survey of your heating system, so that if there are any future problems, we may be able to diagnose the issue, without needing to attend your home, allowing us to have the part ready when we visit.
